OREANDA-NEWS. October 20, 2014. Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman on 15 October paid a working visit to Rome, at an invitation by Italian Foreign and International Cooperation Minister Federica Mogherini, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.

The ministers discussed ways Italy can support the enforcement of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement. In this respect, the Moldovan and Italian foreign ministers signed a joint declaration which defines the areas in which Italy will provide assistance to Moldova.

The sides will pay special attention to the approximation of the Moldovan legislation with the acquis communautaire, implementation of standards on food safety, agriculture, tourism and transport. Both countries will encourage cooperation in the field of labour and social protection, as well as turn into account the benefits of migration for development.

The officials also exchanged opinions on developments in the regional context and cooperation within international organisations.

In the context of the Italian official’s designation for the mandate of the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy on 1 November, Deputy Prime Minister Natalia Gherman invited Federica Mogherini to visit Chisinau by the end of this year.
