OREANDA-NEWS. Urban Consulting, one of Russia's leaders in the design and construction of various sites, has optimized IT costs via the use of Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) in CROC's Virtual Data Center. IaaS enables the customer to extend capacity during peak periods and then reduce it, thus increasing flexibility.

"We have offices in Moscow and Sochi but operate throughout Russia. In order to complete new interesting projects, we needed temporary project offices, prompt workplace deployment and integration with existing infrastructure and, therefore, considered outsourcing to be the most convenient and beneficial solution. As we now know, it really works. Key design systems operate in a stable manner without performance loss, and computing capacity can easily be set up according to current workload, which, for instance, enables us to quickly establish and liquidate a new project office," said Vladislav Bulgakov, Head of IT Department, Urban Consulting.

"Urban Consulting employees now have access to a unified information environment and only require Internet access for efficient performance, regardless of office location. To obtain more resources, the customer just has to visit a self-service portal and extend capacity without engaging CROC's specialists. In addition, a cloud environment is reliable enough to hold even the confidential information required for effective work performance," said Maxim Berezin, Head of CROC's Virtual Data Center.

As part of the project, the customer uses CROC's servers, disks and software as a service in order to operate Urban Consulting applications, including domain, terminal services, email, and special-purpose CAD software. Furthermore, CROC specialists provide technical support of the cloud-based system.
