OREANDA-NEWS. Since July of the current year the construction of new environmental facility - flue gas desulfurization plant (FGD) began at Trypilska TPP. The erection of FGD plant is provided within the framework of feasibility study for technical re-equipment and reconstruction of the power unit No2 at Trypilska TPP and approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

Given the importance of this project for the preservation of the environment and the lack of experience in construction of this kind of plants in Ukraine, the event of laying the foundation of this building became a milestone, symbolic step that began the countdown of new life in the future of more environmentally friendly power plant. However, together with the foundation the symbolic message for the descendants in the so-called time capsule was laid down.

The works are implemented by the General Contractor LLC "DEMZ-Engineering". "It will be a complex of buildings that includes: reactors for flue gases desulphurization and silos for the final product, i.e. wastes that can be subsequently utilized in construction industry and bag filter", - said Andriy Yurchenko, Deputy Director of LLC "DEMZ-Engineering".

New FGD plant shall be actually commissioned in a year, August 15, 2014.

"Ukraine is still moving to Europe, thus fulfilling all its commitments, including the production of clean electricity", - expressed his opinion Petro P. Kravets, Director of Trypilska TPP, for the Western partners.
