OREANDA-NEWS. October 14, 2014. At the end of September wholesale prices for socially important food products under sanctions started stabilizing.

FAS monitors wholesale ex-works prices on socially important food products weekly: beef poultry, milk and dairy products, butter, potatoes, carrots, cabbage, onion and apples.

“Overall in Russia at the end of September stabilization of wholesale ex-works prices was observed, and even a downward trend on some positions”, said the Head of FAS Department for Control over Chemical Industry and Agro-Industrial Complex, Anna Mirochinenko.

For example, monitoring showed that from 22.09.2014 to 29.09.2014 beef prices remained unchanged. Increased prices for these products were observed only in Adygeya and the Kursk region, and went down in the Samara region (-5.4%), the Chelyabinsk region (up to -13%) and in Crimea (up to -5%).

Chicken meat prices also remained stable with a downward trend. Growth of prices was revealed only for some producers in Adygeya, Primorie, Kamchatka, Lipetsk and Moscow regions.

Pork prices in the analyzed period also stabilized, and even reduced in Karachaevo-Cherkessia (- 4.8%), Mordovia (-3.53%) and the Vologda region. Increased prices were noted only in the Stavropol, Khabarovsk, Perm and Moscow regions.

Fish prices also stabilized; the prices of particular suppliers in Udmurtia, Chechnya, Arkhangelsk, Lipetsk and Kirov regions are exceptions.

Seasonal price reduction for vegetables continues; in particular, prices in the Kaliningrad region reduced considerably.

Prices for milk and butter also stabilized at the end of September. Milk became more expensive only in Tatarstan, Kemerovo and Vologda regions. Tatarstan OFAS Russia has already started a documentary inspection.

Inspections are also initiated in other regions. For instance, Primorie OFAS Russia together with regional executive bodies, inspected retail networks in Vladivostok and Artem. Ivanovo and Nizhniy Novgorod OFAS are carrying out on-site inspections of trading networks jointly with the bodies of Rospotrebnadzor and the Prosecutor’s Offices. Khabarovsk, Voronezh, Sakhalin and Zabaikalie OFAS Russia are conducting unscheduled on-site and documentary inspections of economic entities that sell food products.

“Should elements of violating the antimonopoly law be revealed, FAS shall undertake appropriate enforcement measures”, commented Anna Mirochinenko.
