CROC Equips Spartak Moscow Football Club Stadium for FIFA World Cup
OREANDA-NEWS. On September 5, 2014, the Spartak Moscow football club opened its home stadium designed to hold 42,000 spectators-the first site among other stadiums to be constructed or upgraded throughout Russia for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. CROC deployed systems to address spectators with sound and music during football matches.
"Despite its almost 100-year history, Spartak only started to build its own home stadium in 2006 and accelerated the construction process when Russia was awarded the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Furthermore, we revised our plans once again and, for instance, increased stadium capacity from an initial 35,000 to over 40,000 spectators. In addition, we also boosted engineering system requirements in order to ensure world-class sound, comfort and security during the World Cup. The systems offered by CROC successfully cope with the above tasks and comply with all FIFA technical recommendations and requirements. Today, the systems allow for the making of sound effects at the stadium, support press events in conference halls, and can also be applied in lobbies and halls for prompt spectator alerting in case of emergency," said Andrey Fedun, Director General, Otkritie Arena stadium.
"Sports stadiums are among the most difficult sites for deploying smart media systems due to their large scale, the necessary integration of many engineering and IT systems, and complicated acoustics that may affect the intelligibility of announcements. Therefore, we usually recommend thorough planning of stadium internal systems or, in the case of the Otkritie Arena, acoustic simulation in order to select the most appropriate equipment," said Pavel Pochtennov, Head of Smart Media Systems and Director of 3D Solution Center, CROC.
CROC implemented an integrated system, including sound amplification (for the stadium bowl and fan sector), sound routing and public address, interactive management, and equipment performance monitoring subsystems. In addition, the press conference hall was equipped with simultaneous interpretation, sound amplification, video display, switching, and CCTV systems. Installation included: more than 7 km of fire-resistant acoustic cable, 48 under-roof-rack amplifiers (160 kW total capacity), 184 loudspeakers (sound pressure of more than 105 dB), and a LAN for system management and monitoring.
"Major sports competitions do not come around so often and even home football matches do not take place every day. Meanwhile, for better return on investment, the sports site infrastructure can be used to hold corporate events, celebrations and concerts, which require an appropriate environment and, most importantly, high-quality sound. That was what we thought about first of all. BOSE equipment installed at the Otkritie Arena stadium consists of sound systems, amplifiers and processors and, in addition to holding world-class competitions, enables the customer to reduce the payback period by site leasing and sound advertisements," remarked Maxim Kolbay, Development Director, BOSE Moscow Representative Office.
"CROC deployed the stadium bowl sound systems in the shortest possible time and in strict compliance with acoustic simulation results-all achieved through the effective teamwork of CROC's specialists and stadium personnel. The sound system also operates as an evacuation alarm system. This is the first development and implementation of its kind in Russia, with a positive expert review provided to CROC. In addition, all system components and parts passed relevant examinations by regulatory and fire safety bodies," added Andrey Korogodin, Large Account Director, CROC.
