OREANDA-NEWS. United Metallurgical Company (OMK Closed Joint Stock Company, based in Moscow) joined the World Steel Association (WSA) at the annual meeting of its members which took place today in Moscow.

OMK's activity within the WSA will be aimed at exchanging experience in the fields of labor and environmental protection, efficient steel and energy consumption, unlocking scientific potential, further development of educational initiatives, and strengthening the steel industry's positive image.

"We have decided to become a part of the World Steel Association which unites the majority of the industry's companies to coordinate efforts in tackling the common issues we face. The WSA has vast experience in such fields as technology improvement, production safety, industrial ecology, and energy saving and education. We are confident that the exchange of experience within the WSA will contribute to OMK's further development, and our groundwork efforts may be of interest to our industry peers," said Anton Bazulev, OMK's External Communications Director, commenting on the company's new membership in the World Steel Association.

The World Steel Association is an international organization that unites over 170 of the largest steel producers which make up over 85% of the world market, national regulatory authorities, and research institutes.
