The enclosed announcement has been reported by MPX North Sea Limited (20% operator) with regard to Licence P1763 (Aragon exploration well) in the UK North Sea in which Cairn has a 32.5% interest. The other partners in the licence are JX Nippon Exploration and Production (U.K.) Limited (25%), Bridge Energy (CNS) Limited (13.5%) and Dyas Exploration UK Limited (9%).

Drilling and open hole logging operations have been completed on the Aragon exploration well 9/14a-15A in Licence P1763. Although the Upper Jurassic sands were encountered on prognosis, they were water bearing at this location. The well will now be plugged and abandoned. The partners in the P1763 Licence are MPX North Sea Limited, Operator (20%); Agora Oil & Gas (UK) Limited (a wholly owned subsidiary of Cairn Energy PLC) 32.5%; JX Nippon Exploration and Production (U.K.) Limited 25%; Bridge Energy (CNS) Limited 13.5%; and Dyas Exploration UK Limited 9%.
