Tata Power Delhi Distribution Bags Case Study Contest Award from AIMA

Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL) emerged as the first choice of the 'Case Study Contest' on how technology enhances productivity and customer satisfaction organized by All India Management Association (AIMA). The theme / topic of the contest was 'Usage of Technology for Effective Business'. A First round of audit was conducted by KPMG where all the submissions were evaluated and the top 10 were shortlisted; while the final round of evaluation was undertaken by the eminent Jury panel.
The award being given away by General (retd) (Dr) VK Singh, Minister of State for External Affairs and Minister of State for North East Region. Also seen in the picture is Firdose Vandrevala, senior vice president AIMA and executive vice chairman, Essar Steel India. From TPDDL, Sudharshan Saini, chief (commercial), Dr G Ganesh Das, head of department (strategy and business relations), Tarun Batra (head of group - GIS) and Mithun Chakraborty, assistant general manager ( power management and strategy) received the award
Over the years, TPDDL has implemented different technologies for business benefits, which are SCADA, GIS, DMS, DA, OMS, SAP CRM, SAP ISU, SAP PM, SAP BCM, etc. for improving reliability and quality of power apart from enhancing customer service delivery and therefore customer satisfaction. With these new technologies, TPDDL has delivered different benefits which improved the reliability and customer service based on their own product capabilities.
However, TPDDL was able to integrate these different applications and make a huge difference in the key performance indicators. Some of the areas of improvements which resulted from this integration of different applications are Reduction in outage durations, empowering customers through proactive intimation, Reduction in operation cost, Revenue gain by curtailing the energy not served (ENS), Improved Analytics for Network Maintenance, Improved Revenue Cycle Management, Enhanced Customer Satisfaction, Improvement in Call Handling Time and Call Quality, and Increased IVRS response to customers.
While awarding TPDDL, the Jury panel submitted that the case study produced by TPDDL had excellent impact analysis and demonstration of the rationale and relevant solutions. They also felt there was intelligent use of different technologies for improving efficiency and Impressive monetary benefits showcased in the case study. The Award with Given away by General (Retd.) The All India Management Association (AIMA), as the national apex body of the management profession, has been organizing an annual flagship event - the National Management Convention - with an objective to address the challenges faced by the corporates in India, their implications on the business scenario and deliberations on key strategies for successful business performance.
In the current scenario, it was felt that technology adoption is going to be one of the key drivers that will help organizations gain sustainable competitive edge in the near times to come. The challenge for every organization is how they innovate and then adopt and seamlessly imbibe technology in their business operations.
