OREANDA-NEWS. The bus passengers who were injured in the accident on the 28th of September in St. Petersburg can get compensation from Ingosstrakh Insurance Company. According to the law on compulsory insurance of carrier's civil liability to passengers (OS GOP), the maximum amount of compensation to be paid to each of the affected passengers is RUB 2 m.

On the 28th of September this year, at the crossroads of Nauki Prospect and Karpinski Street, the driver of bus No. 153 was trying to overtake bus No. 102, but he misjudged the situation and crashed into the other bus. As a result, 6 passengers and the driver of bus No. 153 received injuries of varying degrees of severity and were hospitalized. Several other passengers were hurt but refused medical care.

The buses involved in the accident belong to Passazhiravtotrans Company. Pursuant to the requirements of the legislation of the Russian Federation, liability of the carrier to passengers is insured by Ingosstrakh Insurance Company. The OS GOP contract is effective until June 4, 2015.

People who were injured in the accident are entitled to insurance compensation for damage to life, health and property that resulted from such accident. To receive compensation, the affected passengers have to visit Ingosstrakh Insurance Company office in Saint-Petersburg and submit a standard package of documents: passport, certificate of the accident issued by the traffic police, a medical report describing the nature and severity of the injuries. Pursuant to the effective legislation of the Russian Federation, the limit of liability of the policy holder shall be at least RUB 2.025 m in case of a passenger's death and at least to RUB 2 m in case of injury and at least RUB 23,000 in case of damage to property. The amount of payment to each victim will be calculated according to the special table approved by the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 1164 of 15.11.2012, depending on the type and severity of injuries suffered by a victim.
