Belarus' Grodno Azot Reports 5.8% Rise in Commodity Output
OREANDA-NEWS. Belarus' chemical company OAO Grodno Azot manufactured Br6.928 trillion worth of chemical products (USD 654.805 million) in January-August 2014, up 5.8% on the year, the company said in an official report posted on the company's web site.
In August 2014 commodity output stood at Br797.433 trillion (USD 75.372 million).
OAO Grodno Azot's mineral fertilizer production stood at 514,782 tonnes (in terms of 100% nitrogen) in January-August 2014, up 4.1% on the year. In August alone nitrogen fertilizer output decreased 18.6% on the year to 53,822 tonnes; carbamide output increased 10% to 667,733 tonnes (August - down 28.8 to 63.159 tonnes).
Grodno Azot decreased output of ammonium sulphate by 4.9% in January-August 2014 up to 258,480 tonnes (August - 31,410 tonnes, down 21.4%); nitrosol - 506,086 tonnes, down 3.3% (August - 60,027 tonnes, down 8.6%); ammonia - 706,624 tonnes, up 5.7% (August - 77,833 tonnes, down 12.5%), sulphuric acid - 177,125 tonnes, down 1.9% (August - 24,501 tonnes, up 78.1%); caprolactam - 84,134 tonnes, down 4.2% (August - 9,612 tonnes, up 26.9%); chemical fibres - 26,445 tonnes, up 0.9% (August - 3,340 tonnes, down 8.6%).
Grodno Azot was set up in 1963 and transformed into an open joint-stock company in 2002. The Belarusian government holds a 99.97% stake.
Grodno Azot is Belarus' main producer of liquid ammonia, nitrogen fertilizers, methanol, caprolactam, biodiesel fuel.
