Tallink's Passenger Volumes Decreases by Six Percent in Third Quarter
OREANDA-NEWS. AS Tallink Grupp announced that the passenger numbers have decreased by 5.8 percent to 2 561 257 passengers in the third quarter of the financial year 2014 due to the planned dockings and rerouting of the ships.
The results have been influenced by the 25 days of docking of the Helsinki-Stockholm route vessel Silja Symphony in September. Also, the decrease of the capacity on the Riga-Stockholm route has influenced the volumes, as there is currently only one vessel operating instead of two.
Tallink transported on Estonia-Finland route 1 324 963 passengers (-3.3%), on Finland-Sweden routes 777 727 passengers (-5.5%), on Estonia-Sweden route 273 014 passengers (-3.6%) and on Latvia-Sweden route 185 553 passengers (-23.3%) in the third quarter.
The cargo transportation showed an increase of one percent to 76 830 units in the third quarter. The number of transported passenger vehicles decreased by 3.7 percent to 354 302 vehicles during that time period.
In September Tallink transported altogether 593 064 passengers, 84 707 passenger vehicles and 27 885 cargo units.
