PM Concerned with Rising Prices for Petroleum Products in Moldova
OREANDA-NEWS. October 03, 2014. During the government meeting, the Prime Minister noted that the price of oil over the past few months has significantly decreased- from USD111 to USD 97 per barrel, which led to the decrease in the fuel prices in Europe.
At the same time, the cost of fuel at the filling stations of Moldova has increased and this was explained by the devaluation of leu. Iurie Leanca stressed that the growth of fuel prices in Moldova cannot be explained as devaluation of leu vs. dollar was less than the decrease in the oil prices.
The Prime Minister expressed concern over the fact that the ANRE has not yet adopted a new Methodology for the formation and application of oil prices, noting that public discussion of the document shall be adopted within 15 days, and this period has expired.
He proposed to hold a meeting on this issue with the participation of the press, being indignant with the fact that in Moldova for many years the methodology for setting prices for petroleum products was discussed, but this document was not adopted and fuel prices in the country grow even in the period when they are decreasing in Europe. "I refuse to understand the logic of our colleagues", said Iurie Leanca.
