OREANDA-NEWS. October 03, 2014. The Moldovan Post Service and the French national post operator, Groupe La Poste, signed a cooperation agreement.

The document provides for the launch of a pilot project on modernisation of financial services and introduction of the Mobile Wallet Service.

At a today news conference, Information Technology and Communications Minister Pavel Filip said the project would be implemented in Chisinau and Balti, for the beginning. Thus, the citizens will be able to make financial transactions by having an account at the post service and managing it via the mobile phone. “We will have possibility to pay utilities, to shop and make money transfers at any time, by using an application on the mobile phone,” Filip said.

Director General of the Moldovan Post Serghei Nastas said that, following the signing of the agreement, the foundation of a partnership between the Moldovan Post and Groupe La Poste had been laid, which would start with "the testing of receipt by users of the innovative payment services". Serghei Nastas admitted possibility to subsequently create a joint venture specialised in providing modern payment services.
