OREANDA-NEWS. The reconstruction of the Businovskaya Traffic Interchange, the most ambitious infrastructure project in the Russian capital, is in full swing in the north of Moscow. The Mostotrest professionals are constructing a complex set of man-made structures in the area of about 600 hectares, including 7 flyovers with the height of 10 to 35 meters and a total length of about 5 km.

The State Company "Russian Highways" is the project's Customer. The project includes the construction of the main section of an 8-lane motor road; 7 flyovers (including 5 exit flyovers); 12 exit roads of the junction with the length of more than 5 km; reconstruction of the existing overpass at the Moscow Automobile Ring Road (MKAD) over Oktyabrskaya railway; construction of a new tunnel-type overpass at the entrance of the main section of the M-11 Moscow - St. Petersburg high-speed route (15 km to 58 km).

For the time being, ten new exit roads have been completed and launched. These roads have connected MKAD with the existing road network in Moscow and the Moscow Region. The construction of the main road section and exit flyovers # 2,3,4,5 is still on. Approaches to these flyovers are being built. Builders keep constructing the deicer system and the automated traffic control system; installing protective screens; ensuring paintjob, power supply and lighting systems.

By October 2014, the Mostotrest professionals completed the asphalt pavement preparations of the left-hand side and half of the right-hand side of the main road flyovers, the main road gallery, exit flyovers #6 and #2; completed the construction of temporary roads for motor traffic for the reconstruction period with a total length of 1.5 km, as well as sidewalks and crosswalks with a total length of over 1.5 km. Builders have completed the widening of Pozharskogo Street in Khimki and construction of a tunnel-type overpass at Bibliotechny Proezd, which will be part of the Moscow-St. Petersburg highway after the reconstruction. Some 3 km of outdoor lighting lines have been built; 5 traffic lights facilities have been installed. Builders have re-arranged communication network lines, a high-pressure gas pipeline, a heating system, high-voltage lines of 110 kV and 220 kV, railway communications, industrial water supply to TPP-21.

About 1,500 people are employed daily at the reconstruction of the Businovskaya Traffic Interchange. Construction is carried out without stopping the traffic in the area, including at MKAD and in close proximity to Oktyabrskaya railway lines.

Mostotrest employs unique construction technology and advanced equipment. In particular, it uses pile-driving devices to build pier foundations near the high-pressure gas pipeline; cyclic longitudinal sliding of monolithic superstructures over MKAD; sliding of superstructures on small radius curves; continuous concreting units at reinforced superstructures; unique crane equipment with lifting capacity of 500 tons.

The project commissioning will ensure transport links between the city and the Moscow Region; abate the traffic load on the main section of the M-10 "Russia" highway near Khimki; ensure access to the left bank of Khimki and Dolgoprudny; connect MKAD and the Northern lateral road in Moscow; provide access to the new Moscow-Saint Petersburg route.
