OREANDA-NEWS. In response to the recent down turn of the international coal market, Sumitomo Corporation has announced its decision to place the Isaac Plains coal mine in care and maintenance, with plans to cease operations by end of January 2015.

The Isaac Plains Joint Venture is jointly held on a 50/50 interest basis with Vale Australia IP Pty Ltd., a subsidiary of Vale S.A., a leading mining company.
