Moldova Select Contractors for Constructing Roads with Funds of EU

In particular, the matter concerns the construction of the bypass not far from the village of Slobozia Mare, the rehabilitation of the R9 Soroca-Arionesti road and the rehabilitation of two segments of the R34 Hincesti-Leova-Cahul road with funds provided by EBRD; the rehabilitation of the R6 M1-Ialoveni Road and two segments of the R16 Balti-Falesti-Sculeni road funded by the European Investment Bank and the construction of the R1 bypass at Bahmut and the M3 bypass at Valcanesti, a press release of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development says.
The tenders are expected to be held in Q4 2014 and Q1 2015. As InfoMarket reported earlier, Moldova singed two new agreements worth a total of EUR 300 million with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Investment Bank for the rehabilitation of the domestic roads. In line with the RM-EBRD agreement, a loan of EUR 150 million will be provided to rehabilitate a 201-km-long network of primary roads. In line with the RM-EIB agreement, a loan of the same amount will be issued to rehabilitate national roads at a total length of 121 km. Besides, the European Commission will provide Moldova with a grant of EUR 16.2 million to support the road rehabilitation.
The money provided by EBRD and EIB under the project with the total commitment of more than EUR 300 million will be spent on the rehabilitation of road networks at a total length of 322 kilometres, namely roads Hincesti-Lapusna, Balti-Falesti-Sculeni, Balti-Sarateni, Soroca-Arionesti, Hincesti-Leova-Kantemir, and others. Besides, segments of the Comrat and Slobozia Mare bypasses on the Chisinau-Giurgiulesti road, a segment of the Porumbrei-Cimislia road, a belt road for highways Chisinau-Leuseni-Romania and Chisinau-Dubosari-Poltava will be constructed.
