OREANDA-NEWS. September 30, 2014. Repsol has been awarded the Duque de Ahumada prize for the Best Corporate International Safety Measures that are required of a benchmark company in safety matters for its foreign assets.

This prize, awarded by the Spanish Civil Guard (La Guardia Civil), acknowledges the merit of those corporations that stand out due to their concern with safety in particular and that have a perception in this regard that transcends the company’s own corporate interests.

Specifically, the judges highlighted the fact that Repsol has managed to equip itself with a perfectly structured safety department that is fully reliable and highly efficient, which has allowed it to satisfactorily resolve numerous highly complex incidents, such as the situation faced by the company recently that involved the evacuation of company employees from Libya.
The crisis management carried out by Repsol in Libya is an example of how the company handles people’s safety, a priority that has been set as the number one objective for all of its operations.

The emphasis on safety is one of Repsol’s essential commitments in the management of its activities. The company operates in over 30 countries and has close to 700 expatriate employees to whom it offers personalised assistance in all aspects.

The company’s international expansion has led to an increase in the number of employees abroad in recent years, a trend the company expects to continue in the future, thanks to the important projects that Repsol is undertaking, especially in the field of hydrocarbon exploration and production.
