OREANDA-NEWS. September 30, 2014. Head office of Beltelecom has become an international communication platform for discussing the issues of promising cooperation of the Republic of Belarus with the Republic of Korea in telecommunications industry. 

A trilateral meeting between the leadership of the Ministry of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus, RUE Beltelecom and Korea Telecom was held on September 17.  The meeting was attended by the officials and experts in the field of communication and information

First Deputy Minister of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus Shedko D.G., Director General of RUE Beltelecom Sivodedov SI, Deputy Director General of RUE Beltelecom Shaibakov V. V., Director General of the Trade Department of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Belarus Yun Jong Hyok ,CEO of Korea Telecom  Zhongming Dag, heads of structural divisions of RUE Beltelecom, Korea Telecom.

During the meeting, the negotiations aimed at discussing the issues of promising cooperation of 2 countries in telecommunications industry took place.

"There are proposals for implementation of certain technologies in our country. Take Smart city project for example.  This project is one of the most promising and priority directions for Belarus, "- Dmitry Shedko said. Using the technologies of the Republic of Korea, some countries have already begun building of such cities. An example of such city is situated in South Korea, Songdo and was created in 2000. Modern technology allow to build a Smart city where special sensors collect and analyze information on road conditions, traffic, buildings, energy requirements and water flow. A representative of the Ministry of Communications said that from the economic point of view the introduction of this technology helps to save resources, making people's lives better, comfortable and safe. There are still many areas for future cooperation between Belarus and the Republic of Korea: telephony, Internet, data transmission. "Belarus is a transit country, not only in terms of traffic flow, but also in terms of the voice traffic. Telephone conversations between Korea and Europe may well pass through our territory, thereby bringing income to our country ", - said the First Deputy Minister.

Director General of Beltelecom Sergey Sivodedov stressed that the visit of the delegation of Korea Telecom to Belarus is a landmark event. He said that today's meeting would pave the way for further mutually beneficial cooperation.

Management of the company Korea Telecom has a great interest to the Republic of Belarus and potential joint projects. Consultations on inter-country cooperation in telecommunications industry are to be continued.
