Tele2 Invests Over 2 bn Rubles into Development of Regions
OREANDA-NEWS. September 29, 2014. Tele2, an alternative mobile operator has signed an agreement with administrations of the Krasnodar Territory and Vologda Region at the International Investment Forum “Sochi-2014”. In 2014-2017 Tele2 is planning to invest 2.3 bn rubles into development of mobile infrastructure.
The signing of the document is focused on cooperation between Tele2 and local authorities that is meant to develop mobile infrastructure in the Krasnodar Territory and Vologda Region. The investment project implies construction of new base stations and upgrading facilities of the current network infrastructure. The operator will pay special attention to make mobile services more affordable in remote residential areas and territories along federal highways.
As a part of the agreement Tele2 will invest 2 bn rubles into development of the Krasnodar Territory mobile infrastructure and 370 mn rubles in Vologda Region.
Apart from the technical development, the sides are planning to implement a number of programs focused on economic growth and creating favorable investment climate in the regions. These aspects of cooperation involve drafting and implementation of projects for SME support.
Tele2 is also planning to support the governmental initiatives in social and environmental sphere.

Aleksandr Saurin, Krasnodar Territory Vice Governor:
“The government is striving to develop telecommunications services in Krasnodar territory districts and major thoroughfares. Despite a high penetration of mobile services there are remote and scarcely populated areas not covered by mobile networks. To tackle this problem, we are actively cooperating with mobile operators set up conditions for business development and help establish contacts with municipal authorities.
Oleg Kuvshinnikov, acting Vologda Region Governor:
“First cooperation with Tele2 was signed in 2012. Our experience shows that the operator strictly fulfills obligations on the development of mobile services in the regions. We are going to continue cooperation with business to solve tasks targeted at the improvement of living and welfare of Vologda Region residents. Mobile infrastructure is vital for achieving these tasks.”
