Ukraine Enhances Energy Efficiency & Food Safety
OREANDA-NEWS. September 26, 2014. The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food is taking measures to improve energy efficiency of Ukraine and implementation of the Association Agreement with the EU, informed during a briefing at the House of Government the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Ihor Shvayka and Deputy Minister for European Integration Vladyslava Rutytska.
Ihor Shvayka noted that targeting to strengthen energy independence of Ukraine the Ministry of Agrarian Policy takes measures to substitute natural gas for agricultural enterprises and provide them with biofuels.
"Presently we can provide the equivalent of 10 billion cubic meters using timber for the next three years, the amount we buy today from the Russian Federation", - said the Minister.
At this he stressed that biofuels are cheaper to use as compared to natural gas.
The Minister informed the following week the domestic plants would demonstrate their work after investing funds in energy replacement, what problems arise during implementation of this project, what legislative initiatives have to be approved to make this market efficient.
In turn Vladyslava Rutytska stressed that the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, pursuant to the approved by the Government Plan of Implementation of the Association Agreement with the EU, should develop a plan of execution of the document for the half-year and the next three years. Moreover, the department continues work on harmonization of the national legislation with the EU law.
According to her, among the essential tasks of the Ministry are gaining experience in deregulation in the agricultural sector and ensuring safety of food industry and agricultural products.
Vladyslava Rutytska said that the Ministry plans to develop a comprehensive model for all sectors of the agroindustrial complex of Ukraine. Also, according to her, the Ministry will provide training and assistance for the medium-sized enterprises "to receive appropriate certification in order to ease their work and have an ability to get to the EU markets".
