OREANDA-NEWS. September 25, 2014. Astana and Washington seek for further strengthening and broadening of strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and the US, Kazakh Foreign Minister Erlan Idrissov and US Secretary of State John Kerry stated at the meeting held in New York.

The parties focused on a wide range of issues of bilateral agenda highlighting dynamic development of cooperation. As stated there, the Kazakh-US relations are built on strong foundation of trust-based cooperation in the field of energy, nuclear nonproliferation, strengthening of regional and global security.

Besides, they discussed urgent issues of international politics, including situation in Central Asia, Afghanistan, Ukraine and Iran's nuclear program, also development of ties and transport junctions under the Great Silk Road development project.

Kerry, in his turn, highly appreciated Kazakhstan's contribution to ensuring regional security, stabilization of Afghanistan, and the country's constructive and well-balanced foreign policy. The US Secretary of State confirmed the US interest in further strengthening of political and economic cooperation, the MFA's press service said.

The Kazakh FM invited John Kerry to visit Kazakhstan and to participate in EXPO 2017 in Astana.
