MAYKOR Provides Uninterrupted Operations for Vote Counting Equipment
OREANDA-NEWS. The optical scan voting systems (OSVS) operated smoothly at the last elections in Khabarovsk. MAYKOR was responsible for technical support this equipment.
OSVS are specialized mixes of hardware and software designed to automatically count. Given that election accuracy and transparency depend on the stable operation of the equipment used, the service organization was faced with the assignment of completely eliminating downtime and providing technical support in accordance with strict SLA requirements: service reaction time had to be less than ten minutes. MAYKOR set up a hot tech support line to meet those requirements, also putting together fast-response service teams working 24/7 during the elections.
"IT is being implemented more and more in the voting process. OSVS allow us to minimize errors made when counting votes while also making the process faster. At the same time, we also provide traditional containers for voting in the case of system errors, even though they ended up going unused both this time and last thanks to the systems working perfectly," noted Gennady Nakushnov, chairman of the Khabarovsk Krai Election Commission.
The equipment worked flawlessly thanks to quality preparation beforehand. In the period going up to the elections the Khabarovsk Krai Election Commission and MAYKOR specialists trained and certified 126 OSVS operators from among the regional Khabarovsk election commissions. Each OSVS underwent a completeness check, set-up, and testing as part of the technical preparation performed.
