OREANDA-NEWS. September 24, 2014. That was announced by Moldova’s Premier Iurie Leanca at a briefing he gave together with WB Vice President for Europe and Central Asia Laura Tuck, who paid her first visit to Moldova since her appointment to the post.

According to the Premier, the World Bank’s loans will be available for our country under the Bank’s Partnership Strategy for Moldova, with the priority areas to be funded being, as before, education, health care, agriculture and energy sector. Actively supported by the World Bank, Moldova’s authorities will continue modernizing the country to develop its economy, push forward the reforms, ensure access to high quality education and health care and establish modern institutions serving people and facilitating their lives.

The World Bank is Moldova’s faithful and reliable partner which, for 22 years already, has assisted our country in implementing reforms in various fields, achieving economic growth and creating new jobs, the Premier underlined. Besides, as the World Bank is a coordinator of external donor assistance for Moldova, during the meeting with the WB Vice President for Europe and Central Asia both: projects of the World Bank and possible external donor aid for the following years were discussed, Moldova’s Premier said.

The questions were raised with regard to the projects aimed at modernizing public institutions of Moldova, enhancing the competitiveness of our country's agriculture and other sectors, promoting various reforms and addressing challenges facing Moldova. Iurie Leanca recalled that thanks to the World Bank a lot of Moldova's rural and urban companies had been supported, new schools and hospitals had been built, a lot of public facilities had been rehabilitated, the quality of health care and education had been enhanced, social infrastructure and environment protection had been invested in.

The World Bank has assisted our country in adopting e-government system and developing electronic services which make lives of people of Moldova easier.
