OREANDA-NEWS. September 23, 2014. Sphere of information and communication technologies in Kazakhstan is rapidly developing - the number of Internet users increased up to 12 million in the country. It has reported by Vice Minister of Investment and Development Askar Zhumagaliyev at a "round table" on development of Kazakhstan's Internet.

"10 years ago, number of Internet users was less than 4% of population, and this figure has risen to 12 million people today. Citizens in all cities and many regional centers of Kazakhstan use the Internet at 3G speeds, and regional centers have 4G services, FTTH is being implemented at the same time", A. Zhumagaliyev said.

Vice Minister informed that "Fiber to the village" project will be launched next year, and all rural settlements of Kazakhstan will be provided with high-speed internet.

"Apart from infrastructure development, a great attention is currently being paid to services and e-government services. Today, there are more than 570 of them," Vice Minister said.

Organizers of the meeting of "20 years of Kaznet: Formation, Problems and Prospects" were: Kazakhstan Association of IT-companies, Fund for Development of Information and Communication Technologies, Association of Kazakhstan's internet business and mobile commerce, JSC "Kazcontent" with support of Ministry of Investment and Development of Kazakhstan.
