ROSATOM Takes Part in Symposium of World Nuclear Association
OREANDA-NEWS. September 22, 2014. The State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM delegation took part in the 39th annual symposium of World Nuclear Association (WNA) which was held in London (Great Britain).
At an international exhibition ROSATOM was presented by a collective display featuring United company NIAEP OJSC – ASE CJSC, Techsnabexport JSC, TVEL JSC, MTsOU JSC, Uranium One Holding; besides, stands of the leading international companies were presented at the exhibition.
The united exhibited display of The State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM was visited by more than 600 people, including Agneta Rising, Director general of World Nuclear Association (WNA). The exhibition stand became a meeting place for existing and potential partners of Russian nuclear industry.
This year, the main topic of the Symposium was discussion of 60-year industry development results, as well as prospects and challenges for the next 60 years. A. M. Lokshin, the first deputy Director General of ROSATOM for operational management, spoke at a plenary session devoted to 60-year anniversary of the first NPP. In the video presentation "60 Years of the Russian Nuclear Industry" he told to the participants about development of Russian nuclear technologies, starting from the First NPP and finishing at today's prospective projects; he emphasized the contribution of the nuclear industry into development of other process industries. L. M. Zalimskaya, Director General of Techsnabexport JSC, took part in a plenary discussion "The Main Hazards and Opportunities facing Fuel Cycle Companies".
The Symposium ended with a panel discussion of nuclear industry leaders who discussed key aspects of nuclear power industry development in the next 60 years. K. B. Komarov, deputy Director General of The State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM for development and international business, was one of the participants of the discussion. In particular, he expressed confidence that the industry future development will depend, among other things, on the ability of vendors to manage the cost of 1 kW/h of electricity generated at an NPP.
As a part of commemoration of 60 years of the nuclear industry all Symposium participants were shown a video film devoted to the contribution of nuclear power industry into improvement of the living standards and development of new technologies.
WNA's Symposium is an annual meeting of managers and specialists of the leading global nuclear industry companies. Traditionally, in parallel with the conference program an exhibition is held, and several says before Symposium are dedicated to meetings work groups on various specialized topics important for nuclear industry development. This year, experts from Rosatom companies took part in group work on Standardization and Licensing, small reactors, public acceptance, fuel market development issues, RAW handling, etc.
