OREANDA-NEWS. The new flyover has been opened to traffic from Ryabinovaya Street to Govorova Street on Mozhayskoye Highway in Moscow. By having completed this 2.4 km long flyover in record 12 months' time, Mostotrest organized a freeway along one of the major capital routes.

The flyover was erected on commission from the Moscow City Department of Construction as part of the reconstruction of the motor road from the intersection of the Garden Ring with Novy Arbat to the intersection of Mozhayskoye Highway with the Moscow Automobile Ring Road (MKAD).

The six-lane flyover (three lanes in each direction) was constructed on 44 7.5 meters high pillars in densely built-up urban areas without stopping the traffic in the construction footprint. For a period of reconstruction, a detour route was established through the three-lane side roads along Mozhayskoye Highway with a total length of about 6 km and dedicated lanes for public transport.

The commissioning has increased the section's throughput by 30% thanks to a freeway along Mozhayskoye Highway from MKAD to the Garden Ring. The side roads of Mozhayskoye Highway with dedicated lanes for public transport ensure connection of the city traffic elements between adjacent city districts and allow road users to move within a district without entering a major route. Besides, the company constructed five turning ramps and a parking space under the flyover to accommodate over 1,000 cars.

Mostotrest began the construction of the flyover in August 2013 and completed it in a period of a little over one year. Proper operational planning and workflow monitoring allowed the company to speed up commissioning. The Mostotrest professionals capitalized on the state-of-the-art technologies and equipment. Thus, the knee-gateway unit, providing for installation of superstructure girders without any temporary pillars, made it possible to install superstructures without stopping the traffic at three intersections (at the intersection of Gvardeyskaya-Ryabinovaya, Kubinka-Vitebskskaya, Tolbukhina-Vyazemskaya). Modular expansion joints, which have been used in the construction of the flyover, reduce pulse noises during the road traffic.
