OREANDA-NEWS. September 12, 2014. “Banca de Economii has own funds to purchase Unibank", - the Chairman of the Board Ilan Sor.
He has announced this at a briefing, confirming the information that Banca de Economii appealed to the national Bank for permission to purchase 100% shares of Unibank. These actions are dictated by the task set by the shareholders to the Board of Banca de Economii expansion of the banking business and to increase the bank's share at the market.

"Such deal will be held for the first time in Moldova and is the starting point of the expansion of Banca de Economii", - said Ilan Shor. He emphasized that the shares of all shareholders of Banca de Economii will remain unchanged, and, above all, the state will have a share of 33,33%. Moreover, the result of the transaction, the value of shares of all shareholders, including state ones, will increase.

Ilan Shor, said that the transaction is very promising, noting that it would entail the consolidation of banks and the banking group as a whole: "For us this is a very serious project. We intend to become the first Bank in Moldova in all respects. Today Banca de Economii has the largest branch network and the largest number of employees. Our goal is to increase assets and the market share". In his turn, the acting President of the Bank Viorel Birca noted that as a result of the transaction, the Bank's position will be consolidated, and this will bring new benefits to customers of both banks by the increasing accessibility to banking products and modern technologies. At the briefing it was also noted that such transactions have long been practiced all over the world and they will lead to the enlargement, the increase in the cost of shares, the increase in the overall situation.

The Chairman of the Board of Banca de Economii Ilan Shor expressed the hope that this news will be welcomed. He noted that all will be resolved in accordance with the applicable law; and the transaction value shall be determined at the exchange. In conclusion, answering the question: is it true that the main shareholder of Unibank is Ilan Shor, – he answered that this is not true.
