Beijing Global Sister Airport President Forum Held
OREANDA-NEWS. September 12, 2014. The “3rd Beijing Global Sister Airport President Forum” was held in Capital Airport. The theme was “Facing the Challenge and Creating the Future”. This was the 3rd global feast of air industry, which was initiated and held by Capital Airport.
During the forum, leaders from Civil Aviation Administration of China, chairman of International Civil Aviation Organization Council, Secretary-General of International Airport Association, presidents and special representatives of 18 sister airports from 15 countries and regions in Asia, Europe, America, and Oceania gathered together. Leaders and special representatives of important airports, various airline alliances and major airlines in China also attended the event. All the leaders and representatives shared the experience of developing the airports and discussed the future trend of the field during the 2-day forum.
Leaders of Civil Aviation Administration of China and Beijing municipal government, representatives of International Airport Association and International Civil Aviation Organization and leaders of CAH attended the opening ceremony.
As the leader of the sponsor of the forum, the president & CEO of BCIA Boli Shi gave a speech with the theme of “Development pattern of ultra-large international hub airport”, to share his opinion on the hub-airport construction with the participants of the meeting. Afterwards, speeches were given by leaders from SkyTeam Alliance, Civil Aviation Administration of Chicago, Heathrow Airport, Paris Airport, Japan Narita International Airport, Sydney Airport, Schiphol Airport, Geneva Airport, Tel Aviv airport, Air China, Shanghai Airport and Taiwan Taoyuan Airport.
The duration of the forum was two days, during which President Forum, round-table conference for sister airports and one-to-one talks were held. The President Forum was focusing on sharing the management experience, and three seminars were held with the themes of “Synergetic development of large hub airports and airlines”, “Construction of intelligent airport in the context of mobile internet" and “Security issue of the airport in the context of globalization: new challenge and new method" respectively. The topic of round-table conference were the establishment of permanent operation mechanism of the forum and proposal of deepening the coorperation among all parties. BCIA has signed “The 2014-15 Action Plan of the Global Sister Airport President Forum” with sister airports. During the event, the sister airports had one-to-one business talks with their counterparts and with related airlines.
In addition, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the founding of the Capital Airport Passenger Service Promotion Committee (CAPSPC), the forum held a special forum on September 3rd. Representatives from 27 member units and sister airports home and abroad were invited to attend the forum and discuss the ways of promoting the services of large hub airports.
According to reports, Beijing Global Sister Airport President Forum is a significant result of the international development path of Capital Airport of recent years. In September, 2011, CAH initiated and held the 1st Beijing Global Sister Airport President Forum with the theme of “Sharing the experience and cooperative development”. The forum included a one-day President Forum and a half-day sister airport round-table conference. Presidents, senior managers of civil aviation administration and government officials from 34 airports and representatives of 13 airlines from 7 countries and regions attended the conference. The Proposal of the Beijing Global Sister Airport President Forum was passed on the conference. Then in September, 2013, at the time of World Tourist City Federation (WTCF) Beijing Tourism Summit and Civil Aviation Branch Meeting when presidents of sister airports came to Beijing, CAHC held the 2nd Beijing Global Sister Airport President Forum. The theme of the 2nd forum was “cooperation, innovation, mutual development”. The forum included a half-day sister airport round-table conference, presidents and representatives of 17 airports home and abroad attended the forum and signed the “Guidelines for cooperation and development”. A decision was made on the conference that an annual meeting would be held at same time of Beijing Tourism Summit and Civil Aviation Branch Meeting.
Under the guidance of the two documents signed on the previous two forums, BCIA is actively conducting multi-fields collaboration with all parties and is in a great effort to promote mutual benefit and win-win result. It plays a significant role in deepening multilateral exchange and enlarging the global cooperation network and has gained a brilliant success.
