OREANDA-NEWS. End of August was marked with the most prestigious event within power industry - 45th CIGRE session in the Palais des CongrЁЁs in Paris, attended by over one hundred representatives from Russian power companies.

VNIIR was represented by Goda Nudelman, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Denis Zhuravlev, senior engineer, Evgeniy Kolobrodov, Head of Algorithm & Simulation Development Department, Alexander Navolochny, Head of Simulation Center and Olga Onisova, Head of R&D Department.

The program included a lot of events, such as: seminars, poster sessions, working group meetings, technical exhibition. In addition, an excursion to Louvre was arranged for delegates and their teams.

The first working day was aimed at all delegates and included several presentations on general topics relating to the Challenges of the Transition in Power Systems-Regional Perspectives. In the meantime technical exhibition was opened and general assembly of CIGRE members was held in order to discuss results of fulfilled works and to determine new major tasks.

On the following day technical committees started their work. VNIIR specialists participated in seminars Ў°System aspects of HVDC gridsЎ± and Ў°DC grid modelingЎ±, visited poster sessions and technical exhibition. It is noteworthy that the number of exhibitors has increased remarkably, as compared with 2012. The main emphasis was put on communication technologies, data procession (based on application of latest calculation and modeling tools), smart grids and practical implementation of IEC 61850. Attendees also raised the issue of cyber security. At the meeting of B5 Study Committee (Relay Protection and Automation) Mr. Nudelman, Head of Russian National Committee, assisted by Mrs. Onisova, suggested to host colloquium-2017 in St. Petersburg along with 6th international R&D conference Ў°Relay Protection and AutomationЎ±, arranged every two years by CIGRE Russian National Committee, System Operator of Unified Power System and VNIIR. However, final decision on location of colloquium-2017 will be made on September 20-26, 2015 in China.

Regular participation in CIGRE sessions allows VNIIR specialists to use latest global power solutions and tendencies for further development and successful cooperation with major national power grid companies.
