OREANDA-NEWS. September 10, 2014. In line with the EU-RM Association Agreement, which has been applied provisionally starting September 1, the exemption is granted to some categories of Moldovan fruit and vegetables within the amount of tariff quotas stipulated and is applied for the ad valorem components of customs duties only, a press release of the Customs Service of Romania says.

To benefit from the preferential tariff quotas importers are supposed to present a customs duty payment warranty. The warranty is returned after the European Commission certifies the right of the importer to benefit from preferential tariff quotas. As Romania’s Customs Service informs, the tariff quotas for duty-free deliveries from Moldova to the EU are as follows: 2,000 tonnes for tomatoes; 220 tones for garlic, 10,000 tonnes for table grapes, 40,000 tonnes for apples, 10,000 tonnes for plums and 500 tonnes for apple juice.

The exemption from paying the ad valorem component is applied to the following Moldovan exports: cucumbers, vegetable marrows, oranges, mandarins, clementines, lemons, pears, peaches, cherries, sweet cherries, etc.
