OREANDA-NEWS. September 10, 2014. Sberbank CIB announces the appointment of Sergey Smirnov as Head of the Government & Municipal Project & Programmes Division, Client Management Department, Managing Director. Sergey will report directly to Kirill Polishkin, Acting Head of the Client Management Department, Managing Director.

He will be tasked with building relationships with government agencies and municipal entities and offering them financial solutions that employ Sberbank CIB’s extensive product suite.

Sergey Smirnov joins Sberbank CIB from the Russian Presidential Administration, where he had worked since 2010. His last position at the Administration was Deputy Head of a Department of the Presidential Domestic Policy Directorate (Central and Northwestern Federal Districts). He also has over 10 years of experience in corporate management, corporate communications and interacting with government agencies. Sergey graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations and also has an MBA from the Higher School of Economics.

This is the latest in a number of senior hires at Sberbank CIB in 2014. Recently the Investment Banking Department has been joined by Igor Ushakov and Vadim Marchuk, M&A Investment Banking Directors, the Global Markets Department has added Peter McNulty as Managing Director for International Projects, and Sergio Soler as a Senior Trader, Managing Director for Precious Metals Trading together with Franck-Eric Fischer as Senior Oil Trader, Commodities Unit, Managing Director.
