FAS Presents Results of its “Hot Line”
OREANDA-NEWS. September 10, 2014. The hot line of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) on the issues of increased food products prices has been operational for already two weeks.
During this period FAS received 1254 messages from individuals and economic entities, of which 1159 with information about increased retail prices for food products.
The complaints geography covers all regions of Russia. The majority of complains concern growing poultry prices. According to the information supplied by individuals, on average prices for this product increased by 23%. Fruits and vegetables remain on the second position: kiwi, grapes, apples, peaches but predominantly lemons.
Milk and dairy products are on the third position; most often complaints are about increased prices for cheese and butter. Members of general public also report increased prices for pork (around 30%) and beef (about 40%).
In the wholesale segment growing prices for fish and poultry are observed. Complaints mainly relate to increased prices for salmon and trout: information was supplied from Moscow region, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Voronezh and Altai regions, and Moscow. Cheese is on the second position: complaints came from Moscow, St Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg and also from Voronezh regions.
According to economic entities, prices for vegetables increased in Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod regions.
“FAS continues monitoring the situation. Based on analyses of already received information, FAS plans several inspections”, commented the Head of FAS Department for Control over Chemical Industry and Agro-Industrial Complex.
