KPO Starts Coaching Programme as New Method of Staff Development
OREANDA-NEWS. September 09, 2014. Employees of Human Resources Department held an event aimed at promoting a coaching program in KPO. The event was attended by the representatives of company’s top management, programme participants and their line managers.
The programme was organised as an interactive master class, which included discussions and a quiz.
As KPO Operations Director Luca Vignati noted in his greeting address to the participants, educational and professional development of local staff is one of the key priorities of the company.
“To date, KPO has invested more than USD 170 million in training and development of Kazakhstani specialists using extensive international experience of our partners and own educational resources, as well as attracting renowned educational institutions. Participation in programmes like coaching makes it possible to KPO employees to acquire knowledge and skills needed for sustained professional growth and further development”, he added.
Human Resources Controller, Zaure Alzhanova, said: “The purpose of the coaching program is to develop leadership skills of present and future leaders our organisation. These new skills are intended to assist them in coping with their business tasks as coaching is one of the advanced and effective practices of vocational training and professional development of people. The difference between training and coaching is that training provides an opportunity to learn about different ways and methods of dealing with certain tasks whereas coaching allows to generate the right questions that will help employees understand themselves about how exactly they should act in this or that particular situation”, Zaure Alzhanova added.
As Training and Development Manager Elena Zemlyanskaya noted, “KPO uses coaching technologies for the development of future leaders of the company. An instructor-coach creates conditions for the student to understand what he/ she should do, to identify ways in which he/ she can achieve the goal, to choose the most appropriate course of action, and to outline key steps to achieve the goal on his/ her own”.
“For each of us it is useful to understand and apply these methods in daily team work. Such programmes allow our employees to develop the skills required for sustainable professional growth, contribute to improving individual performance and thus achieve the objectives of the company”, she added.
The coaching programme in KPO was launched as a pilot project in 2013. As of today, 54 employees have had the opportunity to participate in this initiative for which KPO Training and Development Department invited high-level independent professional consultants as instructors: Stanislav Grinberg, Kairat Aidarbekov and Galiya Kalidzhanova.
It is expected that new knowledge and skills acquired by the participants of this programme will allow improving production efficiency both within their departments and throughout the whole KPO.
