L&T Wins Supercritical Power Plant Order from MP State Utility
OREANDA-NEWS. Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured a turnkey order for setting up a 2x660 MW Supercritical Thermal Power Project at Shree Singaji TPP (Stage-II) on a complete Engineering-Procurement-Construction basis from the state utility MP Power Generating Company Limited (MPPGCL).
Valued over 5100 crore, the project order covers design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of two coal-fired thermal units of 660 MW each with supercritical parameters. The project is located near village Dongalia in the Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh.
The order was won through tough competitive bidding involving several national and international bidders. The project demands stringent completion schedule of 43/47 months (unit wise).
Significantly, this is a repeat order on L&T from the same state utility, which had earlier placed an EPC order for the Balance of Plant Package for 2 Units of 600 MW each of Shree Singaji TPP (Stage-I).
Commenting on the order, Mr Shailendra Roy, Whole-time Director (Power, Minerals & Metals) said the first Unit of Shree Singaji TPP (Stage-I) had recently gone commercial and was operating satisfactorily. "The awarding of the Stage-II of Shree Singaji Thermal Power Project affirms L&T's credentials in EPC execution of power plants under critical schedules", he added.
L&T is currently executing multiple large EPC/BTG/BOP power projects in India and abroad. L&T has established joint ventures with Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems, Ltd., Japan, a global leader, for manufacture of supercritical boilers and turbines at its complex in Hazira, Gujarat. In the supercritical segment, L&T has also set up manufacturing capabilities in Hazira for power plant auxiliaries including high pressure piping, coal pulverizers, fans, air preheaters, feed-water heaters, condensers, ESPs and heavy forgings.
Larsen & Toubro is a major Indian multinational in technology, engineering, construction, manufacturing and financial services, with global operations. Its products and systems are marketed in over 30 countries worldwide. A strong, customer-focused approach and the constant quest for top-class quality have enabled L&T to attain and sustain leadership in its major lines of business over seven decades.
