OREANDA-NEWS. September 08, 2014. The opening ceremony for the IT Banking Technology Department at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) took place at the head office of JSC Sberbank Technology (an IT subsidiary of Sberbank of Russia).

Every year 25 specialists will study three disciplines at the department: settlement systems, risk management and control in the banking sector, big data analysis and development of distributed banking systems. The two-year on-campus program will include lectures at MIPT and classes at Sberbank Technology. The department will provide students with the opportunity to attend 5-6 courses on IT topics that are increasingly important. In addition, students will receive valuable practical experience, participating in the company’s projects.

The opening of the department took place as part of the previously announced partnership between Sberbank and MIPT; the program’s goals include developing new expertise in Banking IT and forming a department at MIPT to prepare qualified specialists for Sberbank’s IT Block.

Vadim Kulik, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Sberbank of Russia, in his opening words said “Partnering with leading Russian universities is one of our most important areas of development. We strive to take an active role in preparing highly qualified specialists in business and innovation. This is especially important in IT to keep up with the fast pace of technological change.”
