OREANDA-NEWS. September 08, 2014. This measure is provided for by the Regulations on financial assistance to fruit producers. The document includes requirements to be met by applicants for the assistance, specifies categories of products liable to the compensation, sets forth the order of its distribution and reads that only those farmers will be compensated who will sell processing factories the summer plums and apples.

In particular, the compensations will make MDL 1.5 per kilo of apples and MDL 1.2 per kilo of plums. The total weight of the fruit compensated can not exceed 100,000 tonnes. In particular, the compensations are provided for 60,000 tonnes of apples and 40,000 tonnes of plums. The financial assistance will be available for individual farmers of legal entities that have submitted all the documents necessary to justify they have sold the fruit to processing companies. The compensations will be paid out for plums sold till September 15, 2014 for apples sold till September 30.

The money will be paid through the Agency for Agricultural Interventions and Payments. The applications for the compensations are to be submitted till October 15, 2014 to special committees established by local authorities. The compensations to growers of tomatoes and cucumbers have not been provided yet. Earlier, the Agriculture Minister said the government would pay MDL 1.2 per kilo of plums, MDL 1.5 per kilo of apples and MDL 0.8 per kilo of cucumbers and tomatoes.

The Ministry proposed that 300,000 tonnes of plums, 100,000 tonnes of apples and 10,000 tonnes of cucumbers and tomatoes be compensated. Agriculture Minister Vasile Bumacov said the goal was, staying within the budget, to render as much as possible assistance to the farmers who had suffered from Russia’s fruit embargo and had to sell their products to processing companies in Moldova. He promised the government would cover the difference between the purchasing price the canning factories offer and the cost price for the vegetables and fruit, but said the possible profit could not be more than 10%.
