OREANDA-NEWS. September 08, 2014. Ukraine, which for a long time had been a full-fledged breadbasket of Europe, has every reason to regain leading positions in agro-industry on the global arena.

The Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Sych stated during a meeting with Yoshihiko Okabe, a Japanese scientist, public figure, organizer of a number of Ukrainian-Japanese cultural and economic forums.

The top official welcomed the efforts of Yoshihiko Okabe and an intention to sign the agreement on cooperation between the Institute of Agroecology and Environmental Sciences of NAAS of Ukraine and Kobe Gakuin University of Japan, promised to provide overall support in establishment of contacts between Japanese and Ukrainian scientific institutions, and expressed hope that such cooperation and exchange of scientific experience will contribute to the development of the agricultural sector of Ukrainian economy. "The combination of natural features of the Ukrainian land and experience with the scientific and technological potential of Japan will yeild an excellent result," said Oleksandr Sych.

In turn, Yoshihiko Okabe stressed that Japan is a promising market for Ukraine. “Ukraine occupies the fifth place in terms of volumes of agricultural products we import to our country. We plan to enhance cooperation with Ukraine, and in the near future we will establish links with universities in both western and eastern regions of your country", - assured Yoshihiko Okabe.
