OREANDA-NEWS. September 05, 2014. The total amount of American aid will make about USD 15,07 million. It is provided by the amendments to the Moldovan-American intergovernmental agreement to support local government dated 17 September 2010, which is planned to be signed.

The government of Moldova at the meeting on Wednesday approved the start of negotiations with the U.S. on the signing of the annex to the agreement. Allocated U.S. funds will be used to finance investment projects in the regions of Moldova, the implementation of local projects aimed at improving service delivery at the municipal level, improve their quality and quantity to improve financial management, energy efficiency at the municipal level.

As InfoMarket informed before, it is expected that the U.S. assistance to facilitate economic growth in Moldova will increase by approximately USD 3.5 million, and its total size will reach USD 36,2 million. These funds grant assistance of the United States are intended to continue the implementation in Moldova of various programs aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of the private sector, the development of capacity of micro, small and medium enterprises and creating new jobs. In addition, the planned increase in US funding to support the implementation of the program of strengthening the state's legal institutions is USD 342,5 thousand, and the total size of this grant aid will increase to USD 7.8 million.

These funds are intended to improve the efficiency, transparency and accountability of the judicial system by strengthening the institutional and operational capacities of the superior Council of magistracy and the Department of judicial administration, National Institute of justice. In addition, support will be provided to government and non-governmental organizations to promote reforms in the justice and improvement of monitoring this process. Special attention will be paid to automation of the judicial process through the full implementation of a computer based judicial system.
