OREANDA-NEWS. September 05, 2014. Astana hosts the 6th session of the Kazakh-Spanish intergovernmental joint commission for cooperation in the field of economy and industry.

Intergovernmental commission on behalf of Kazakhstan is headed by the Minister of National Economy of Kazakhstan Yerbolat Dossayev, and the Secretary of State for Trade of the Kingdom of Jaime Garcia-Legaz Ponce heads the Spanish side.

Spain holds a high position in the South-European direction of Kazakhstan's foreign policy and is a promising economic partner in Europe, Minister of National Economy of Kazakhstan Yerbolat Dossayev said at the opening of the meeting.

The agenda of the 6th session of the Kazakh-Spanish intergovernmental commission includes the issues of mutually advantageous cooperation between Kazakhstan and Spain in the trade, investment, industrial, transport and logistics and energy industries.

The parties also plan to sign a number of documents, including the Roadmap for bilateral cooperation.

Trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Spain amounted to USD 1 billion 183 million in the first half of 2014, which is more for 14.7% than the same period in 2013 (USD 1 billion 31 million).

Currently, there are such companies as "Talgo", "Repsol", "Maksam", "Airbus Military", "Teltronik", "Imabe Iberica", "MYPE", "Inditex" and others in Kazakhstan. Many of them plan to expand its presence in Kazakhstan.
