OREANDA-NEWS. September 05, 2014. Moldova and Malta will cooperate in the digital governance sector. A memorandum to this effect was signed in Chisinau, in the context of the meeting of the European Action Group for Moldova.

Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman and Maltese Foreign Minister George W. Vella signed the document.

Natalia Gherman said the memorandum was a long-term commitment of Malta to assist the Moldovan partners as regards the implementation of modern information technologies, in order to improve the quality of public services.

For his part, George W. Vella said he was for the first time in Chisinau and was impressed by the achievements gained by Moldova in more areas. “Moldova is a European state, we have common values and want Moldova to be a member of the European Union,” the official said.

Malta is the fifth country, after Romania, Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania, to ratify the Moldova-EU Association Agreement on 29 August 2014.
