Moldovan-Lithuanian Commission for EU Integration Holds New Meeting
OREANDA-NEWS. September 05, 2014. The fifth meeting of the Moldovan-Lithuanian Commission for European Integration was held in Chisinau.
The meeting was co-chaired by Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman and Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
Natalia Gherman thanked for Lithuania’s engagement to assist Moldova on its European path and ratification of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement by the Lithuanian parliament on 8 July 2014.
The officials discussed the priorities on the European agenda of Moldova and steps that were to be taken by the Moldovan authority. At the same time, the commission’s meeting, the first held in the context of implementation of the Association Agreement starting from 1 September, was a constructive framework, in order to identify new areas in which Moldova will benefit from the Lithuanian partners’ assistance during the application of the provisions of the agreement.
„We appreciate the maintenance of Moldova among the first 7 priority states for the foreign assistance provided by Lithuania, being carried out successfully joint projects on consolidation of institutional customs, phytosanitary and judicial capacities in Moldova,” Gherman said.
For his part, Linas Linkevicius praised the progress of the Moldovan authorities in the European integration process and specified that everything that had been achieved so far was the result of a hard work. „The Association Agreement was not the final goal of the ties with EU, is the beginning of the European integration process, and Moldova has the support of all European partners,” the official said.
