OREANDA-NEWS. September 04, 2014. The MDL/USD exchange rate the National Bank of Moldova has reached its highest level for the last 10 years and made up 14,089.5.

The all-time peak – 14,784.0 was registered on April 14, 2003, so, the official rate still has the room to grow. As it was said earlier, the physiological threshold of MDL 14 per USD 1 was stepped over on January 16, 2003, when the MDL/USD exchange rate reached 14,013.5 to reach the peak of MDL 14,784.0 on April 14, 2003.

Within January-August 2003, the MDL/USD exchange rate was floating above 14, sinking below to 13,999.5 on August 19, 2003. Since September 11, 2003, the national currency has strengthened its position, starting with 13,748.1.

On June 30 2014, the MDL/USD exchange rate again overstepped the physiological threshold of MDL 14 against USD 1 and made up 14,016.6. Within July 15-September 2, it was less than MDL 14 against USD 1.
