Anhui-Based JAC Taps into American EV Market
OREANDA-NEWS. An auto maker based in East China's Anhui province will export 2,000-plus electric vehicles (EVs) to the United States.
Under an agreement reached a couple of days ago, Jianghuai Automobile Co. (JAC) will sell more than 2,000 EVs to American green vehicle supplier GreenTech Automotive Co. (GTA).
JAC has signed a sales contract for the first batch of 200 units, agreeing to ship them from the Hefei Port Wednesday, the company said in a statement a day earlier.
The move marks the first time Chinese new energy vehicles have entered the American market. Also, it is believed as a landmark in the history of the province's advanced manufacturing and strategic emerging industries.
Further, the two sides will team up to develop a new generation of EVs specially intended for the US market, called IEV5(G5), according to the statement.
As JAC is among China's top EV producers, the partnership can earn American consumers' trust and favor, said Charles Wang, GTA's CEO.
To date, up to 6,000-plus JAC EVs have hit the road, assistant general manager She Cairong said.
