OREANDA-NEWS. September 04, 2014. To implement the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation “On the Measures for Enforcing the Order of the President of the Russian Federation “On Using Some Special Economic Measures to Maintain Security of the Russian Federation”, the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) undertakes systemic efforts to prevent an unreasonable growth of prices for food products. The market of supplying imported salmons is in a focuse of FAS attention.

Particularly, taking into account that Faroe Islands can be one of the main suppliers of cooled salmon to Russian market, FAS organizes cooperation with the competent bodies and industry associations of Faroe Islands.

“Our cooperation will include exchanging information and offering consultations. I believe that such interactions can prevent possible anticompetitive actions of market participants”, said Deputy Head of FAS, Alexander Kinev.

“We informed the competition authority and the Fishery Ministry of Faroe Islands about the existing risks of violating the antimonopoly law in supplies of fish to the Russian Federation and we hope that our cooperation will facilitate competition on this market”, pointed out the Head of FAS Anti-Cartel Department, Andrey Tenischev.

In 2013, the Federal Antimonopoly Service investigated an antimonopoly case against some Russian companies that import Norwegian salmon to the Russian Federation. In the course of the investigation it was established that certain Russian companies concluded a cartel agreement to divide the market.
