OREANDA-NEWS. September 04, 2014. The National Basketball Association (NBA) and SIBUR announced that the Volgar sports complex in Tolyatti will be the second basketball court refurbished under a multiyear partnership to provide safe and accessible basketball facilities, grow the appeal of baskтрetball in Russia, and promote an active lifestyle.

The court refurbishment process has already been launched, with the opening ceremony scheduled for late September. The ceremony will be attended by the NBA Legend and 7 time NBA Champion Robert Horry, who will conduct a basketball clinic for local children at the refurbished court.

As part of their partnership, the NBA and SIBUR launched a program to regenerate basketball facilities in 10 cities in Russia. The court improvement in Tolyatti will increase opportunities for the community, including SIBUR’s employees and their children, to learn and play the game of basketball.

On 2 August, SIBUR and the NBA opened the first basketball court under this multiyear partnership, in Perm. The opening ceremony was attended by two NBA stars, twin brothers Brook and Robin Lopez.

As of the end of the 2013-14 regular season, the NBA featured four Russian players on active rosters.
