OMK Delivers over 30,000 Tons of LDPs for Power of Siberia GTS
OREANDA-NEWS. This July and August, United Metallurgical Company (OMK Closed Joint Stock Company, based in Moscow) delivered over 30,000 tons of large diameter pipes for the construction of the Power of Siberia gas transportation system. OMK has fully met its contractual obligations for delivering LDPs for the Power of Siberia; the contract was signed between VSW and Gazprom in 2013.
Twelve-meter long pipes with a diameter of 1420mm, 21.7mm thick walls, and with an inner and outer polyethylene coating were manufactured at Vyksa Steel Works (VSW, part of OMK). The K60 strength class sheets for the LDPs were also produced at VSW at the Heavy Plate Mill 5000 using steel billets manufactured by NLMK Open Joint Stock Company. This fully localizes the production of pipes for this strategic project in Russia.
OMK is ready to take part in Gazprom's new tenders for delivering pipe products for this strategic project.
“OMK has invested over 70 billion rubles to set up production facilities for wide plates and large diameter pipes, and has one of the world's most advanced complexes for producing LDPs of any complexity. We supervise the company's participation in the new strategic gas transportation project “From Ore to Pipe.” This ensures a high quality standard and that the pipe production deadlines for the Power of Siberia be met,” said OMK President Vladimir Markin, commenting on the contract's fulfillment.
