GE Intelligent Platforms Receives USD 1.5m Order from Spain's Sainsel
OREANDA-NEWS. GE Intelligent Platforms (NYSE: GE) today announced that it has received orders from Sainsel Sistemas Navales of Madrid, Spain for a range of GE's rugged embedded computing systems that will be deployed as part of Sainsel's aeronautics program. GE's boards will be used in new equipment developed by Sainsel as part of a mission system. Initial value of the order is USD 1.5 million; long term value is expected to be USD 7 million.
Sainsel's expertise lies in developing sophisticated solutions for defense, surveillance and security applications; the company has installed more than 400 systems in a range of ships, aircraft and control centers for both Spanish and international customers.
GE's solution included the 3U VPX SBC346 high performance single board computer; the ICS-8580 video capture, compression, streaming and archiving XMC; the ICS-7006a video capture XMC; the PEX431 multi-fabric switch and XMC carrier card; the GRA112 3U VPX high performance graphics processor; and the GBX410 3U VPX IPv6-capable fully managed layer 2/3 Gigabit Ethernet switch.
“This is a strategically significant program for Sainsel, which meant that it was very important to minimize risk in terms of potential incompatibilities, cost overrun and time to market,” said Chris Lever, General Manager, Military & Aerospace Products, GE Intelligent Platforms. “GE's ability to cost-effectively provide all the key computing elements meant that interoperability was maximized, and that any problems could be quickly and effectively solved. Beyond this, Sainsel placed high value on the importance of long term support - something that GE is also able to deliver.”
