Vanino Terminal Handles 60 mln Tones of Coal since Commissioning
OREANDA-NEWS. On the eve of the Miner's Day Vanino bulk terminal (JSC “Daltransugol”) handled 60 million tonnes of coal since its commissioning and 11 million tonnes since the beginning of 2014.
The youngest and most northern mining port in Russia, the Vanino bulk terminal, finished loading the record 60 millionth ton of coal to a supership on 29th August, 2014. It's another historical milestone in the company's history since the day it was founded.
This year, the company celebrated its 10th anniversary. This festive year has been generous for the company with new records and working achievements. Only this January, the terminal of Vanino reported the 50 millionth ton throughput. Being a “young port” (the terminal was launched in 2008), these are record-breaking results.
“I think, this is a very good result”, - says the CEO of ZAO “Daltransugol”, Vladimir Shapoval, - “by increasing the throughput volumes, we managed to increase the scope of our activities and widen our list of coal shipments. We started with 3 coal ranks, nowadays our warehouses store up to 12 coal ranks. By offering potential buyers this wide assortment of “black gold”, we're increasing the number of our current clients and are pretty confident with our future plans”.
The team of ZAO “Daltransugol” faces an ambitious goal, which is to increase its effective cargo handling to 24 million tons per year. This will be double the size of the current terminal capacities.
In 2013, the Vanino bulk terminal went trough equipment modernization, which was part of its preparations for winter period operations. The bulk terminal of Vanino is a whole-year operation, which has direct access to 2 independent main railway lines - the Trans-Siberian railway (Transsib) and Baikal-Amur Mainline (BAM), which provide connections to all points of Russian Federation.
