EBRD Appoints Grzegorz Zielinski Director for Poland
OREANDA-NEWS. September 02, 2014. Grzegorz Zielinski takes over as new EBRD Director, Poland, and head of the Bank’s Resident Office in Warsaw on 1 September.
He follows Lucyna Stanczak-Wuczynska who becomes Director, Financial Institutions, EU Banks, at the EBRD headquarters in London, covering the financial sector in 11 EU countries in the EBRD region.
Poland was the first country the EBRD invested in after its establishment in 1991 and to date the Bank has invested EUR7 billion in 338 projects in the country across all sectors of the economy. In the six years of Ms Stanczak-Wuczynska’s leadership in Poland, the Bank was specifically active in the banking sector and the capital market, especially in response to the global financial crisis, and built a strong position as a leading equity investor in the country. The EBRD also became a leader in sustainable energy financing.
Mr Zielinski joined the EBRD in 1998 from Ernst&Young and became a banker in the Power, Energy & Utilities team in 2001. He has been responsible for the Bank’s activities in the power sector in Poland since 2006 and was promoted to Senior Banker in 2009. As Director, Poland, he will oversee an office of 21 staff and activities throughout the country.
Mr Zielinski has a degree in Business/Economics from the University of Gdansk, Poland, and a post-graduate certificate in European Integration from the EC Research Institute. He is also a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
