Tax Board Figures Show Middle Class Grows in Estonia
OREANDA-NEWS. August 29, 2014. Figures released by the Tax Board show that the number of people earning less than 3,200 euros annually and those earning over 380,000 euros are decreasing.
Aripaev calculated that 103,666 people declared an income below 3,200 euros in 2013, over 12,000 fewer than the year before.
The number of people earning between 3,200 and 6,400 also dropped by around 10,000 people to 117,191.
On the other end of the spectrum, only three people took home 1 million euros or more, half as many as in 2012. That figure has been fluctuating since the economic crisis, and was up to 27 in 2008. The number of people declaring over 383,000 euros dropped from 54 to 39 last year.
The middle classes have swelled, with the 6,400 to 32,000 euro bracket increasing by 11,000 people to 313,843, or 56.4 percent of all earners. The next groups, 32,000 to 64,000 and 64,000 to 192,000 also saw increases, with 18,450 (15,556 last year) and 3,107 (2,641) respectively in 2013.
